On 14 July 2025, Tella Thera welcomed its very first guests. What began as a vision has since grown into a place where people from around the world come to experience the beauty, culture, and slower rhythm of western Crete.
As we celebrate our first anniversary, we find ourselves looking back with gratitude, not only for what has been achieved, but for the people who have made this journey so meaningful.
The past year has been filled with unforgettable moments. We've welcomed guests from across the globe, celebrated special occasions, shared countless sunrises and sunsets, introduced wellness experiences inspired by the island, and watched new friendships form around our tables.
Every stay has added a new chapter to the story of Tella Thera.
From the beginning, our goal was never simply to build a hotel. We wanted to create a place that feels connected, to the land, to the local community, and to the authentic spirit of Crete.
That connection can be found in many ways: in the craftsmanship of local artisans, the seasonal ingredients served at Anemoia, the treatments at Thaleria Spa inspired by nature, the experiences that introduce guests to the traditions of western Crete, and above all, in the people who welcome every guest with genuine Cretan hospitality.
Throughout this first year, we have also been deeply honoured to receive recognition from respected travel, design, and hospitality organisations, as well as international publications. While these acknowledgements are incredibly meaningful to us, we see them as a reflection of the dedication of our team, our partners, and our local community, people who have believed in this vision from the very beginning.
What means the most, however, are the moments that cannot be measured by awards: the returning guests who choose to visit us again, the heartfelt conversations, the kind reviews, and the knowledge that many people leave Tella Thera feeling connected not only to our hotel, but to Crete itself.

As we begin our second year, we do so with the same philosophy that inspired us from day one: to offer thoughtful hospitality, celebrate the richness of Cretan culture, care for our natural surroundings, and create experiences that stay with our guests long after they return home.
