Tella Thera is a five star boutique eco-hotel located in Crete, Greece. Designed as a retreat, the hotel focuses on sustainability, slow travel, and authentic hospitality.
Rather than a large resort or all-inclusive destination, Tella Thera offers a small-scale, thoughtfully designed environment where architecture, nature, and human connection are given equal importance.
The experience is centered on calm, privacy, and personalized meaningful moments — creating a sense of place rather than a standardized luxury stay.
Tella Thera is a labour of love initiated by a couple, built by a few, and inspired by many.
origins
The word Tella is derived from the name “Tellus”. In ancient Rome, Tellus was the goddess of the Earth, and in ancient Greece, Tellus was the happiest man on Earth.
The second word Thera, comes from the Greek word therós (summer) or therismós (harvest). For the ancient Greeks, the summer harvest was a very important time of year and symbolises an activity that involves taking care of the Earth, so the Earth can take care of us in return.
